After receiving comments and questions from colleges of osteopathic medicine (COMs) and members of the public, on the recently revised Accreditation Standards, the Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation (COCA) Standards Review Committee (SRC) has added clarifying language to the 2023 COM New and Developing Accreditation Standards, the 2023 COM Continuing Accreditation Standards and the Standards Glossary.

In the attached document, you will find proposed updated language for the following:

  • Candidate Element 10.1: GME Feasibility
  • Pre-Accreditation Element 10.2: Accredited GME
  • Continuing Element 10.1: Osteopathic Educational Continuum
  • Continuing Element 10.2: Accredited GME
  • Related language in the Standards Glossary

The SRC is soliciting public comment on the proposed updated language starting Friday, July 12, 2024, and ending at 9:00 a.m. CT on Monday, Aug. 12, 2024. Comments should be sent in Word format to [email protected]. All public comments will be reviewed by the SRC and presented to the COCA at its meeting at the end of August.
