Alissa Hendricks-Wenger, DO

Alissa Hendricks-Wenger, DO, PhD, is an integrated interventional radiology resident at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida, where she completed her general surgery internship in 2026. She serves as the postdoctoral trainee member of the AOA Board of Trustees and as co-vice chair of the AOA’s Bureau of Emerging Leaders (BEL). Dr. Hendricks-Wenger graduated cum laude with her Bachelor of Science in biomedical engineering from the University of Texas at Arlington. She then earned her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from Lincoln Memorial University-DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine (LMU-DCOM), and her doctorate in translational biology, medicine and health from Virginia Tech, where her dissertation examined the oncological and immunological effects of histotripsy ablation.
Dr. Hendricks-Wenger has served the profession since her student years. She has been part of the BEL since 2023, chairing its events and scholarships work group, and previously served on the AOA’s Bureau of Osteopathic Research and Public Health. She is a workgroup member of the Emerging DO Platform Advisory Council at the American Osteopathic Information Association (AOiA) and has represented osteopathic students through the Council of Osteopathic Student Government Presidents and an AACOM task force on residency preparation. She completed the AOA Leadership Academy in 2023.
Her research focuses on image-guided tumor ablation and translational cancer therapies, with more than 15 peer-reviewed articles, two textbook chapters and service as a review editor for four journals. She has formally mentored 20 students in research and has been recognized at Mayo Clinic with Above and Beyond awards for compassionate patient care and teamwork.
