As an integral part of the its commitment to quality improvement, the AOA has established the American Osteopathic Association Patient Safety Organization (AOA PSO). This organization focuses on identifying and addressing potential risks to patient safety while promoting a culture of transparency and accountability within health care institutions.

AOA PSO highlights

Just culture: Just Culture is the foundation of patient safety and promotes fairness, transparency, and a focus on learning from errors rather than placing blame. It fosters a culture of safety where reporting is encouraged, system improvements are prioritized, and patient care is enhanced.
Confidential reporting: The AOA PSO provides a secure platform for health care professionals to report adverse events and near misses confidentially, allowing opportunities to analyze data and derive actionable insights for systemic improvements.
Patient safety education: AOA PSO offers educational resources that empower health care providers with the knowledge and tools to prevent errors, enhance communication and prioritize patient safety at all levels.
Data-driven solutions: By aggregating and analyzing patient safety data, we develop targeted interventions and strategies to mitigate risks, thereby driving a reduction in adverse events and medical errors.
