Advocacy opportunity: Educating legislators and regulators about osteopathic medicine and non-medical “osteopathy”

By AOA Staff

02.03.26

As follow-up to their presentation at the Affiliate Partnership Meeting, AOA state government affairs staff will be reaching out to affiliates in the coming week to discuss sharing letters educating newly elected legislators about osteopathic medicine, and flagging the emergence of (unregulated) non-medical “osteopathy” in the U.S. for legislators and regulators.

As 2026 state legislative sessions begin to ramp up, we would like to partner with affiliates to highlight the value of osteopathic medicine and the importance of education and regulation to patient safety, and to offer to serve as a resource on healthcare-related issues. If you have any questions in the meantime, please do not hesitate to reach out to Uma Loganathan, AOA State Government Affairs Associate, at [email protected].
