Advocacy in action: 233 bipartisan lawmakers co-sign letter to address looming Medicare physician payment cuts

Looming Medicare physician payment cuts are set to take effect on Jan. 1, 2025, with a proposed 2.8% reduction that threatens patient care and the sustainability of physician practices. In response, Bruce A. Wolf, DO, Chair of the AOA Department of Governmental Affairs, sent an advocacy alert urging members of the Osteopathic Advocacy Network (OAN) to take action. Thanks to your dedicated efforts, we successfully garnered 233 bipartisan co-signers on the Reps. Miller-Meeks and Panetta “Dear Colleague” letter, pushing back against these harmful cuts.

Having so many members of Congress co-sign this letter is important because it puts pressure on Congressional leadership to take action. This momentum couldn’t happen without the collective advocacy engagement. However, the work isn’t done. As we approach the lame-duck session, Congress will need to act before it is too late. Stay tuned to learn more about how you can continue to provide meaningful change through advocacy engagement after the general election.
