On Wednesday, Nov. 15, the AOA submitted a Statement for the Record to the Subcommittee on Health of the Committee on Energy and Commerce (E&C) which held a markup of legislative proposals that impact healthcare policy. As these discussions shape the future of healthcare in America, the AOA remains steadfast in its advocacy efforts to protect physicians and the patients you serve. As the legislative process unfolds, the AOA is actively engaging with policymakers to articulate the potential consequences of cuts to physician payment. The letter expresses strong support for several bills, including:

  • Provider Reimbursement Stability Act of 2023: Provides overdue updates to physicians’ payment mechanisms under the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule (MPFS);
  • H.R. 6366: Extends the 1.0 work geographic practice cost index (GPCI) floor and revise the phase-in of clinical laboratory test payment changes under Medicare, and;
  • H.R. 6369: Extends incentive payments for physician participation in eligible alternative payment models (APMs).

At the markup, Congress recognized the AOA’s statement for the record and approved it with unanimous consent. You can watch the hearing on YouTube.
