This lecture is intended to raise the learner’s awareness of the differential diagnosis of shoulder pain on MRI and to clue them into subtle and easily overlooked diagnoses of shoulder pain. Throughout the presentation, they will understand why making these diagnoses are important for the patient and how they assist the treating physician in delivering optimal care.

Lecture Objectives • Have insight into the broad differential diagnosis of the patient presenting with shoulder pain beyond just a rotator cuff or labral tear. • To gain confidence in the differentiation of normal physiological marrow changes from pathological marrow changes. • To understand the importance of evaluating the rotator cuff muscles as well as having the ability to determine underlying causes for changes in their appearance. • To gain confidence in addressing soft tissue masses about the shoulder.
