The clinical significance of patients suffering from cranial nerve neuropathies encompass the spectrum from debilitating pain to muscular and visceral dysfunction. The neuropathic pathogenesis may be of an organic or teratogenic nature, but frequently it can be a consequence of significant trauma that compromises anatomical structure, thus lending itself to an integrated osteopathic approach in patient care. Osteopathic medical curriculum has long observed the importance of facile clinical knowledge of the cranial nerves.
