2024 Proper Prescribing Livestream

Join us for this livestream on proper prescribing lecture presented by Rachel Wirginis, DO. During this hour, we will explore the history of opioid use and the need for responsible prescribing.

Course Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:
  • Meet the annual licensure renewal requirement for one (1) hour of education in pain management or one (1) hour of education in opioid use or addiction per Oklahoma SB 848
  • Discuss the requirements OK Senate bills 1446 and 848.
  • Understand the history of the Opioid Epidemic and the current wave of polypharmacy
  • Review goals of medication assisted treatment for opioid use disorder and FDA-approved medication
  • Discuss the recommended length of treatment for patients receiving MOUD
  • Discuss challenges of initiating buprenorphine in the age of fentanyl
  • Present “modern” buprenorphine initiation strategies
  • Learn about new medication treatment options on the horizon
