The following message was shared with AOA members on behalf of AOA President Teresa A. Hubka, DO, FACOOG (Dist.), and CEO Kathleen S. Creason, MBA:

During this time of transition for our nation, the AOA remains dedicated to representing the interests of more than 197,000 members of our profession and the millions of patients they serve. We are committed to working with our members, the Administration and the 119th Congress to advance policies that prioritize evidence-based medicine, increase access to medical care and promote the health of our communities.

As a physician-led organization rooted in the principles of osteopathic medicine, we believe in a collaborative and whole-person approach that respects scientific integrity, preserves the patient-physician relationship and protects the autonomy of physicians to provide medically necessary care. We will continue advocating for our members by pursuing opportunities with the new Administration to enhance your practice of medicine and support the well-being of your patients.

With these goals in mind, we recently joined with other leading physician groups to call for the restoration of open access to critical resources from the CDC, NIH and other public health agencies dedicated to supporting the health of our nation. This includes publication of online research, data and guidelines used for point-of-care decision making in hospitals, clinics and emergency departments across the country. We are also urging lawmakers to support continued U.S. membership in the World Health Organization, which will help ensure our seat at the table where critical global health decisions are being made.

Your input and engagement are invaluable as we work to ensure the osteopathic profession remains a trusted voice in shaping health care policy. Visit the AOA’s Advocacy Action Center to learn how you can help strengthen the collective impact of our work. We look forward to partnering with you, Congress and the Administration to advance policies that support your practice of medicine and the well-being of your patients.
