The AOA recently hosted its annual House of Delegates (HOD) meeting, a cornerstone event that features our commitment to physician-led governance and the development of sound policies for the osteopathic profession.

The HOD serves as the AOA’s primary policy-making body, bringing together delegates from across the country to deliberate and vote on key issues affecting the osteopathic profession. This assembly is not only a testament to our democratic principles but also a vivid demonstration of our dedication to ensuring that the voices of osteopathic physicians and medical students guide our organizational direction. Some key points to know about the House of Delegates:

  • Physician-led governance: This event highlights the AOA’s dedication to being a physician-led organization. Policy decisions are driven by osteopathic physicians and students, ensuring that our policies are grounded in clinical reality and focused on patient care.
  • Diverse perspectives: Delegates represent various specialties, practice settings, regions and backgrounds ensuring that our policies address the diverse needs of the profession and communities we serve. The HOD’s robust debates lead to well-rounded and effective policy decisions.
  • Establishing sound policy: The resolutions passed at the HOD guide the AOA’s advocacy efforts and initiatives, reflecting the collective insight and experience of our members.

This year’s HOD meeting addressed critical issues, including funding for graduate medical education, physician payment, healthcare disparities, equity and more. We extend our gratitude to all delegates and participants for their dedication and insights.
