Seated Facet Release®: An Osteopathic Approach to Restoring Balance to the Spine with Karen Steele, DO

This course will immerse registrants in the unique form of osteopathic manipulative treatment (OMT) called Seated Facet Release®, which was taught by Richard H. Still Jr., DO, the great-grandson of A.T. Still, DO, the founder of the osteopathic profession, to Karen Steele, DO. This technique was developed by Dr. Still and has been preserved and transmitted through the Still family.

Learner objectives

  • Become familiar with the concept of Seated Facet Release®
  • Be able to diagnose a restricted facet with this approach, which does not use Fryette’s mechanics
  • Be able to move and control the seated patient in space, while standing or seated behind the patient and without inducing a strain in the physician.
  • Be able to effectively treat facet restrictions in the cervical, thoracic, lumbar and pelvic areas with Seated Facet Release®

Schedule

  • Friday, Oct. 17, 1–5 p.m. ET (4 hours)
  • Saturday, Oct. 18, 8 a.m. – 12 p.m. ET and 1–5 p.m. ET (8 hours)
  • Sunday, Oct. 19, 8 a.m. – 12 p.m. ET (4 hours)
