The AOA joined more than 350 organizations in urging Congress to extend Medicare telehealth services before they expire this September. In a letter to congressional leaders, the coalition emphasized that telehealth has become a lifeline for millions of Medicare beneficiaries, especially those with chronic conditions or limited mobility. Without swift action, patients and providers face uncertainty and potential disruption in care.

The groups called for the longest possible extension of current flexibilities, at a minimum of two years, to ensure stability. The letter stressed that telehealth supports continuity of care, helps address workforce shortages, and drives investment in technology, particularly for rural and underserved communities.

With broad bipartisan support, stakeholders are urging lawmakers to act now to protect access and ensure Medicare patients can continue relying on the telehealth services they have come to depend on.
