DOs and students advocate during August recess

By AOA Staff

08.29.25

Throughout August recess, osteopathic physicians and medical students met with their members of Congress to highlight the challenges facing the osteopathic profession and advocate for key policy priorities.

Using resources provided by the AOA, including talking points, leave-behind materials and advocacy guides, DOs and students engaged lawmakers on:

  • Reauthorizing the Teaching Health Center Graduate Medical Education (THCGME) program
  • Ensuring adequate funding for community health centers
  • Extending Medicare telehealth flexibilities
  • Educating Congress about the osteopathic profession

These in-district meetings gave lawmakers a firsthand look at the impact of osteopathic medicine in their communities, while ensuring the voice of DOs and future physicians remains strong on Capitol Hill.

The AOA thanks all advocates who took time to meet with their elected officials and advance the profession during this critical advocacy campaign. If you’re interested in building and fostering relationships with your lawmakers, be sure to join the Osteopathic Advocacy Network today!
