This event will provide updates within the specialty of emergency medicine, covering various topics required to practice. The relevance to the South Jersey regional area is highlighted by this conference, as there are currently no specific emergency medicine CME events being offered to the physicians who practice in this area.

Learning objectives

  • Describe current evidence-based approaches to the resuscitation and management of pediatrics status epilepticus, including early recognition, pharmacologic therapy and escalation strategies.
  • Explain the indications, technical considerations and potential complications of key emergency and critical care procedures utilized during resuscitation.
  • Identify best practices for the evaluation and management of critically ill patients across a spectrum of resuscitation scenarios, with emphasis on timely intervention and team-based care.
  • Discuss principles of post-resuscitation management and appropriate disposition, including criteria for observation, admission, transfer and consultation.
  • Recognize the role of observation medicine in emergency care, including patient selection, protocolized management and safe disposition to improve outcomes and resource utilization.
