BUCOM Childhood Obesity Treatment Options

May 14, 2026

Join us for a discussion on evaluating and treating pediatric obesity using lifestyle, pharmacologic and surgical approaches.

This activity is designed to enhance clinicians’ understanding of the evaluation and management of pediatric obesity as a chronic, multifactorial disease. It reviews current clinical guidelines, including diagnostic criteria, contributing factors and the importance of addressing social determinants of health and weight bias in pediatric care.

Participants will gain practical strategies for implementing comprehensive, patient-centered treatment plans, including intensive lifestyle interventions, motivational interviewing and appropriate use of pharmacologic and surgical options. By integrating evidence-based approaches with holistic care principles, this activity equips learners to improve health outcomes and quality of life for children and adolescents with obesity.
