AOCR IR Management of Pulmonary Hemorrhage & PAVM

This presentation is designed to help familiarize learners with approaches to challenging clinical scenarios experienced by interventional radiologists, along with providing groundwork for evaluation and transcatheter management of pulmonary hemorrhage and pulmonary arteriovenous malformations.

Learning objectives:

  • Describe various methods for transcatheter vascular diagnosis and intervention for pulmonary hemorrhage and pulmonary arteriovenous malformation (PAVM).
  • Recognize arteriographic findings of PAVM and intrapulmonary shunting.
  • Differentiate between simple and complex PAVM based on angiographic and CT appearance.
  • Discuss risks of bronchial and pulmonary artery therapeutic embolization.
  • Explain rationale for varying approaches to the treatment of pulmonary manifestations of hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia.
