Accreditation Decisions for Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine

CHICAGO–The American Osteopathic Association’s Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation (COCA) today announced accreditation decisions made at its Dec. 1-2, 2023, meeting.

Comprehensive site visits occur at the end of an accreditation cycle. The following site visits were reviewed:

  • California Health Sciences University College of Osteopathic Medicine – accreditation decision deferred to the April 2024 COCA meeting
  • Sam Houston State University College of Osteopathic Medicine – accreditation decision deferred to April 2024 COCA meeting

Other reviews:

  • Arkansas College of Osteopathic Medicine – granted status of accreditation
  • Burrell College of Osteopathic Medicine – granted status of accreditation
  • Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine – granted status of accreditation
  • Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine-Auburn – granted status of accreditation
  • Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine-Carolinas – granted status of accreditation
  • Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine-Louisiana – granted status of accreditation
  • William Carey University College of Osteopathic Medicine – granted status of accreditation

The COCA is recognized by the United States Department of Education as the accreditor of colleges of osteopathic medicine. Accreditation from the COCA signifies that a college has met or exceeded the Commission’s standards for educational quality.
