The AOA is seeking nominees to fill one of its allocated seats on the Board of Directors of the Osteopathic International Alliance (OIA).

The OIA is the leading organization dedicated to advancing and unifying the global osteopathic profession. As an “organization of organizations,” the OIA connects osteopathic schools, regulatory authorities and regional, national and multi‑country osteopathic groups to strengthen collaboration worldwide.

As a founding member of the OIA, the AOA holds two seats on the OIA Board of Directors and is now accepting nominations to fill one seat for a three‑year term, beginning immediately following the OIA Annual General Meeting on Nov. 5, 2026, in Paris. Board service is limited to two consecutive terms, and candidates do not need to be present in Paris to be considered.

This is a volunteer position requiring a substantial time commitment and support from the candidate’s employer to prioritize this role. Ideal candidates will demonstrate:

  • A strong global perspective
  • Active involvement in the osteopathic profession
  • Leadership skills and the ability to contribute meaningfully to an international osteopathic membership organization

Additional details about the role and responsibilities are available on the OIA website.

Submission requirements

To be considered for the AOA‑allocated seat, nominees must submit PDF versions of the following materials to [email protected] by 11:59 p.m. CT on Friday, May 22, 2026:

  • Curriculum vitae
  • A brief statement (maximum one page) outlining how the candidate meets the criteria listed in Part 2 of the nomination form, available on the OIA website (please do not submit Part 2 itself)

Review process

Candidates will be reviewed by AOA leadership. The selected nominee will be notified by June 5, 2026, allowing sufficient time to complete Part 2 of the OIA nomination form ahead of the OIA’s June 20, 2026, deadline.

Qualified and interested individuals are encouraged to consider this opportunity to represent the AOA and contribute to the advancement of the global osteopathic profession.
