AOA Trustee Jennifer Kendall, DO, participates in FTC panel on non-compete agreements

On Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2026, AOA Trustee Jennifer Kendall, DO, participated in a Federal Trade Commission panel examining the impact of non-compete clauses in employment contracts, continuing AOA’s engagement with federal policymakers on this critical issue.

“The bottom line is that these physician non-competes hurt patients. They disrupt continuity of care, decrease quality of care, worsen healthcare disparities and most importantly, limit patient choice while placing an undue burden on patients already navigating a complex health system,” said Dr. Kendall.

Dr. Kendall’s participation reinforces AOA’s long-standing concerns that abusive non-competes disrupt continuity of care, exacerbate workforce shortages, particularly in rural and underserved areas, and reduce patient choice, while highlighting AOA’s commitment to fair competition, physician autonomy and patient-centered care. You can watch the full panel discussion on the FTC website.
