On Tuesday, Oct. 28, the Ohio Osteopathic Association (OOA) led osteopathic physicians and medical students to the Ohio State Capitol for DO Day in Columbus, an advocacy event focused on advancing policies that strengthen patient care and protect access to physician-led treatment. This event empowered OOA members to engage directly with state lawmakers, champion legislation that reduces barriers to care, promotes transparency in healthcare provider titles and reinforces the essential role of osteopathic physicians in Ohio’s healthcare system.

In addition to the day’s advocacy activities, OOA leadership and attendees participated in a Senate Health Committee hearing to discuss osteopathic medicine and the challenges that lie ahead for the profession. The hearing highlighted the critical importance of preserving physician-led care and ensuring that patients across Ohio continue to receive high-quality, comprehensive medical treatment from fully trained physicians. Be sure to watch the full hearing to learn more about this important discussion.

The AOA was proud to support the OOA in elevating the voice of the osteopathic profession and ensuring that patient-centered, physician-led care remains a top priority for policymakers. As we continue this momentum, the AOA looks forward to strengthening collaboration with our affiliates at every level of government to safeguard the profession, expand its impact and advance policies that support both patients and physicians.
