Brittany Garza, DO

Brittany Garza, DO, a recent graduate from the emergency medicine residency program at Central Michigan University (CMU Health), continues to make waves in the world of osteopathic medicine. A graduate of Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine (MSUCOM) and recipient of a Master of Public Health, Dr. Garza was named the Emergency Medicine Residents’ Association’s (EMRA) 2024 Resident of the Year and the Michigan Osteopathic Association’s (MOA) 2024 Resident of the Year.

Dr. Garza is a new physician in practice at the Memorial Healthcare Emergency Department in Owosso, Michigan, and extends her practice to Memorial Healthcare Urgent Care in Owosso and Covenant MedExpress Urgent Care in Saginaw. Her deep commitment to advocacy and leadership is shaped by her involvement with the MOA, where she has been inspired to broaden her professional goals to include hospital administration and medical education.

Dr. Garza believes that great physicians must also be great advocates, not only for their patients, but for their profession and specialty. She defines leadership through the lens of tenacity: the ability to set a goal, build a team and inspire collective achievement. As testament to this, she revived the Golden Key International Honor Society during her undergraduate years at MSU, mobilizing peers to relaunch the organization and create lasting volunteer opportunities.

To those embarking on their medical journey, Dr. Garza offers this advice: “Pursue all opportunities that come your way. You never know when you’ll be invited to participate in something that will change your life.”

Dr. Garza’s future is undeniably bright anchored in service, leadership and a vision to make a meaningful difference in medicine and beyond.
