AOA engages with osteopathic affiliates to advance advocacy and leadership engagement

This month, the AOA had the opportunity to connect with osteopathic physicians and students across the country by participating in multiple affiliate meetings and conferences. Through engaging discussions on advocacy engagement, we reaffirmed our commitment to supporting our members by advancing commonsense health policy.

In the month of October, the AOA joined conferences for the Wisconsin Association of Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons (WAOPS), as well as the American College of Osteopathic Internists (ACOI) and the American College of Osteopathic Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOOG) in Phoenix, Arizona. These gatherings allowed us to engage directly with members, provide updates on advocacy efforts and share insights on current policy that impacts them.

At both the ACOOG and ACOI conferences, AOA President Teresa A. Hubka, DO, FACOOG (Dist.), FACOG, CS, joined a panel of osteopathic physician leaders, including AOA Trustee Shannon Scott, DO; Jodi Benett, DO; and Sabrina Rocke, DO, for a dedicated Advocacy and Leadership Workshop.

During the workshop, the panel discussed:

  • Strategies for effective advocacy and how osteopathic physicians can make an impact.
  • Ways to collaborate with national and state organizations to drive policy change.
  • Tools for measuring and communicating the tangible impact of advocacy efforts.
  • Building strong relationships with policymakers to influence health policy, and more.

As we continue to strengthen our partnerships with affiliates, the AOA remains dedicated to working hand-in-hand with osteopathic organizations nationwide. Together, we are amplifying the voice of the osteopathic profession, shaping health policy and ensuring that the needs of osteopathic physicians and their patients are front and center in legislative decisions.

We are proud to be working on your behalf and look forward to more opportunities to collaborate with our affiliates to advance the future of health care.
