The American Osteopathic Association (AOA) is now accepting applications for the Training in Policy Studies (TIPS) program. The TIPS program is a policy-based program, generously funded by the American Osteopathic Foundation (AOF), that provides residents an understanding of current health care policy issues while also facilitating leadership opportunities.

Sessions have focused on physician payment, drug pricing, social determinants of health, the opioid epidemic and current public health issues. Participants will gain experience in writing policy briefs and white papers, oral testimony and more. If this sounds interesting to you, then be sure to apply today, as the application closes on June 5.

This program serves as an initial leadership and policy program for residents wishing to become more active on policy issues impacting patients and the osteopathic medical profession. TIPS fellows have gone on to serve in leadership and policy development roles within and outside the osteopathic community. Some have also continued their policy training by participating in the Health Policy Fellowship program, which has produced more than 20 deans and college of osteopathic medicine presidents. Applicants must be enrolled in an ACGME-accredited residency by the TIPS program start date in Sept. 2024. The application deadline is 11:59 P.M. on June 5, 2024, so be sure to apply by visiting the AOF webpage.
