Coalition Letter Urges Senate to Vote No on Motion to Proceed

The AOA joins the American Academy of Family Physicians, American Academy of Pediatrics, American College of Physicians, American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, and American Psychiatric Association in urging the Senate to vote no on the Motion to Proceed on repealing, and/or repealing and replacing, the Affordable Care Act with any alternative that will roll back coverage and patient protections.

This letter was sent to U.S. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and U.S. Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer.

CHICAGO- July 25, 2017Our organizations, which represent over 560,000 physicians and medical students, strongly urge the Senate to vote no on the Motion to Proceed on repealing, and/or repealing and replacing, the Affordable Care Act with any alternative that will roll back coverage and patient protections and eliminate access to care for tens of millions of patients. This is dangerous and unacceptable. We urge the Senate to continue to work with our organizations to achieve real bipartisan solutions that bring affordability, access, and coverage to all.

Sincerely,

American Academy of Family Physicians
American Academy of Pediatrics
American College of Physicians
American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists
American Osteopathic Association
American Psychiatric Association
