The American Osteopathic Association is pleased to announce nominations are being accepted for several new awards designed to recognize excellence in public policy and professional advocacy on behalf of the osteopathic profession. Awards will be presented during the AOA’s virtual DO Day, set for March 7-8, 2021.
To nominate yourself or an individual or organization for one of the awards listed below, please complete the online submission form. All nominations needed to be submitted by 11:59 p.m. CST on Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2021. Nominations are now closed.
This award will be presented to one osteopathic medical student, one osteopathic resident, one osteopathic physician and one osteopathic affiliate leader.
Award criteria: Individual commitment to public policy through in-person and online advocacy, participation in DO Day and other events, including demonstrated leadership in engaging and facilitating the advocacy of one’s peers.
This award will be presented to a state osteopathic association, osteopathic specialty college, non-practice affiliate, or college of osteopathic medicine for organizational activities and accomplishments in advancing public policy on behalf of the osteopathic profession.
Award criteria: Specific advocacy successes and overall participation in national advocacy events and efforts.
This award will be presented to one osteopathic medical student, one osteopathic resident and one osteopathic physician or staff.
Award criteria: Advancement of public policy or advocacy through all media channels and platforms that have advanced the interests of the osteopathic profession.
This award will be presented to a journalist anywhere in the country who has helped increase public awareness of the osteopathic profession and/or issues facing the profession.
Award criteria: Impact of the journalist’s work, engagement with the osteopathic community and public awareness of the relevant work.
This award will be presented to two members of Congress (one Democrat and one Republican) for support of policy issues of relevance to the osteopathic profession.
Award criteria: Number of priority bills introduced or co-sponsored, leadership on issues of significance to the profession, voting record on legislative priorities, and attending or speaking at AOA or affiliate events.
