Learn how to file a complaint with a postdoctoral training program
The AOA can help if you experience a violation during your residency training. Here's what you need to know.
If you are currently participating in a postdoctoral training program, and experienced a violation related to work hours, the AOA match, or AOA Standards and Policies, the AOA will review your complaint and help bring resolution to the issue.
How to file a complaint:
You must submit your complaint in writing and include your signature along with some form of evidence of the violation. You will remain anonymous at all times.
The AOA will notify the OPTI together with the hospital’s chief executive officer (CEO) and director of medical education (DME). OPTIs will be asked to do an assessment of the allegation within 30 days and to provide information on the institution’s policy.
The Council on Postdoctoral Training (COPT) will review the complaint along with the OPTI’s assessment within 30 days. The COPT will decide if a focused site visit is warranted at that time.
