Postdoctoral Training Standards

AOA OGME Standards Effective July 1, 2020

AOA Restricted Accreditation After June 30, 2020

The ACGME, AOA, and AACOM recognize there will be unique circumstances whereby some programs, despite their good faith effort, may not successfully transition to ACGME accreditation by June 30, 2020. The three organizations agreed in March 2017 to provide the AOA restricted authority to extend the AOA accreditation date in order to allow any remaining residents in such programs to complete training in an accredited program and advance to board eligibility.

The AOA Council on Postdoctoral Training (COPT) and AOA Program and Trainee Review Council (PTRC) have been developing the AOA OGME accreditation structure for these programs. Policies approved by the BOT and effective July 1, 2020 are as follows:
