House of Delegates Resolutions

DOs, residents and students shape policy

Resolutions submitted for consideration by the 2019 House of Delegates will be posted beginning June 3, 2019.

The 2019 House of Delegates Meeting will take place Friday, July 26, to Sunday, July 28, at the Chicago Marriott Downtown Magnificent Mile Hotel.

Submitting Resolutions

Affiliated organizations of the AOA who have a voting seat in the AOA House of Delegates (HOD) can submit resolutions for consideration by the HOD.

Resolutions for consideration by the 2019 HOD should be received by May 24, 2019, in order to be included in the initial posting of resolutions. Any resolutions received after June 26, 2019, will be considered late and will be subject to review by the Rules & Orders of Business House Reference Committee.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

Amendments to AOA Governing Documents

View 2019 Amendments

  • AOA Constitution – Proposed amendments to the AOA Constitution must be filed with the Chief Executive Officer; posted on the AOA’s website; and published in The Journal of the American Osteopathic Association two to four months prior to the meeting at which they are to be acted upon (AOA Constitution | Article IX – Amendments).
  • AOA Bylaws – Proposed amendments to the AOA Bylaws must be filed with the Chief Executive Officer at least two months before the meeting at which the amendment is to be voted upon. The proposed amendment(s) must be posted on the AOA’s website and published in The Journal of the American Osteopathic Association at least one month before the meeting. The AOA Board of Trustees may revise the proposed amendment if necessary to secure conformity to the Constitution and Bylaws and shall then refer it to the House for final action no later than the day prior to the end of the meeting (AOA Bylaws | Article XI – Amendments – Section 1 – Bylaws).
  • AOA Code of Ethics – Proposed amendments to the Code of Ethics must be filed with the Chief Executive Officer at least 90 days before the annual meeting at which it is to be voted upon. The proposed amendment(s) must be posted on the AOA’s website and published in The Journal of the American Osteopathic Association no later than one month before the annual meeting at which the amendment is scheduled for consideration (AOA Bylaws | Article IV – Code of Ethics – Section 2).
