Vanessa E. Halvorsen, OMS IV
Vanessa E. Halvorsen, OMS IV, is an osteopathic medical student at the Touro University Nevada College of Osteopathic Medicine in Henderson. She is currently auditioning through prospective residency programs of otolaryngology.
An active player in scholastic administration and local policy, Halvorsen is a second year Executive Board Member of the Council of Osteopathic Student Government Presidents, the student branch of the American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine and the Bureau of Emerging Leaders where she co-chaired the Board Licensure Task Force. Halvorsen, who is passionate about studying leadership, conducted a meta-analysis on unconscious bias in regards to women in leadership to identify both the issues and potential solutions.
She is a member of the Sigma Sigma Phi Honors Society; a tutor for physiology, anatomy and biochemistry; and is pursuing research in risk factors associated with autism and effects of matè extract on breast cancer.
Halvorsen received her bachelor’s degree in exercise physiology and minored in chemistry from the University of Utah. After college, she taught anatomy at the University of Utah School of Medicine in Salt Lake City, and worked on inflammatory response research at The Orthopedic Specialty Hospital in Murray, Utah, where she received multiple grants from the USANA Pharmaceuticals and Intermountain Medical Center.Back to Leadership
