Brianne Howerton is a fourth-year osteopathic medical student at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine – Bradenton (LECOM-B) serving as the Student Adviser for the AOA Board of Trustees. In this role, Student Doctor Howerton provides perspective on behalf osteopathic students across the country to ensure their voice is heard by the AOA Executive Board.

Howerton is originally from Peoria, Illinois and graduated from Maryville University – St. Louis in 2019 with a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences and a Bachler of Arts in Psychology with a Minor in Chemistry. She is also enrolled at LECOM-B in their Master of Biomedical Ethics program with a focus in public health and end of life issues.

Prior to serving in this role, Howerton served as the immediate past Legislative Affairs Representative for the Council of Osteopathic Student Government Presidents and currently serves as the National Recruitment Liaison for Omega Beta Iota and as an Osteopathic Health Policy Intern for the American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine.

Howerton is passionate about medical education, health policy, healthcare access in rural/underserved areas and expanding residency programs across the country. When she is not in school, she likes to read, watch hockey and bake cookies. She is excited to see what she can bring to the AOA Board of Trustees this year.
