Lynchburg, Virginia
Anjali James, OMS IV, is a fourth-year osteopathic medical student at Liberty University College of Osteopathic Medicine (LUCOM) in Lynchburg, Virginia. She is a co-chair on the AOA Bureau of Emerging Leaders and serves as the Student Advisor for the AOA Board of Trustees. In this role, Student Doctor James provides perspective on behalf of osteopathic students across the country to ensure their voice is heard by the AOA Executive Board.
James is originally from Dallas and graduated from the University of Texas at Dallas with a Bachelor of Science degree in Neuroscience and Psychology. During college, she worked in the emergency department and became interested in advocating for her colleagues as she took on corporate leadership. She continues her advocacy efforts by working with LUCOM-Student Government Association and the National Student Osteopathic Medical Association.
Her interest in political and professional advocacy was fostered by upperclassmen who invited her to participate in advocacy-related opportunities. She hopes that by working alongside the profession’s leadership she can continue to build up those currently within the osteopathic community, and for those who will follow.
