Periodically, the AOA considers updates to its policies. Members of the public are invited to review the proposed policy changes and submit comments.

Proposed changes to AOA policy are posted for a review and public comment period. The following items are open for public comment.


COCME

Proposed accreditation requirements for AOA Category 1 CME sponsors

The Council on Osteopathic Continuing Medical Education (COCME) is accepting public comment for 45 days for the following resolution, which is pending approval of the AOA Board of Trustees. The submitted comments will be shared with the Bureau of Osteopathic Education and made available for the Board of Trustees deliberations at its July Annual Meeting.

The comment period will close on Friday, April 26, 2019.

Proposed revisions to the COCME handbook

The Council on Osteopathic Continuing Medical Education (COCME) is accepting public comment for 45 days for the following resolution, which is pending approval of the AOA Board of Trustees. The submitted comments will be shared with the Bureau of Osteopathic Education and made available for the Board of Trustees deliberations at its July Annual Meeting.

The comment period will close on Friday, April 26, 2019.


COPT | PTRC

Proposed policy changes to AOA GME structure

The Council on Postdoctoral Training (COPT) and Program and Trainee Review Council (PTRC) have submitted proposed policy changes to the AOA GME structure after July 1, 2020, which are posted for public comment. These proposed changes describe the accreditation structure for AOA programs that do not achieve ACGME accreditation by June 30, 2020, but still have residents in training.  The submitted comments will be reviewed by COPT and PTRC and made available to the Bureau of Osteopathic Education and Board of Trustees.

The comment period will close Monday, May 20, 2019.
