Annual Business Meeting

Physicians and students consider proposed policy

Resolutions will be considered during the House of Delegates meeting July 26-28.

The 2019 House of Delegates Meeting will take place Friday, July 26, to Sunday, July 28, at the Marriott Downtown Magnificent Mile. Resolutions received between now and July 25 are considered late and will be subject to review by the Rules & Orders of Business House Reference Committee.


Submit a resolution

Affiliated organizations of the AOA who have a voting seat in the AOA House of Delegates (HOD) can submit resolutions for consideration by the HOD.

Resolutions received between now and July 25 are considered late and will be subject to review by the Rules & Orders of Business House Reference Committee.

To submit a resolution, use the provided resolution template and submit to cbaggett@osteopathic.org.

View amendments to AOA governing documents

AOA Constitution – Proposed amendments to the AOA Constitution must be filed with the Chief Executive Officer; posted on the AOA’s website; and published in The Journal of the American Osteopathic Association two to four months prior to the meeting at which they are to be acted upon (AOA Constitution | Article IX – Amendments).

AOA Bylaws – Proposed amendments to the AOA Bylaws must be filed with the Chief Executive Officer at least two months before the meeting at which the amendment is to be voted upon. The proposed amendment(s) must be posted on the AOA’s website and published in The Journal of the American Osteopathic Association at least one month before the meeting. The AOA Board of Trustees may revise the proposed amendment if necessary to secure conformity to the Constitution and Bylaws and shall then refer it to the House for final action no later than the day prior to the end of the meeting (AOA Bylaws | Article XI – Amendments – Section 1 – Bylaws).

AOA Code of Ethics – Proposed amendments to the Code of Ethics must be filed with the Chief Executive Officer at least 90 days before the annual meeting at which it is to be voted upon. The proposed amendment(s) must be posted on the AOA’s website and published in The Journal of the American Osteopathic Association no later than one month before the annual meeting at which the amendment is scheduled for consideration (AOA Bylaws | Article IV – Code of Ethics – Section 2).

FY20 budget proposal and resolution

On July 18, American Osteopathic Association leadership hosted a 30-minute web conference to discuss the 2020 budget proposal and resolution. The aim was to provide an opportunity for delegates to understand the special considerations in the financial forecast and review the budget resolution to be presented at the Annual Business Meeting.
